Dear Taradale Families: It’s hard to believe that we are already in the middle of June! As we head into the final weeks of the school year, our classrooms are still buzzing with learning, excitement, and plenty of opportunities to celebrate all that students have accomplished this year. There are still many special activities and learning opportunities ahead, and we look forward to making the most of these final weeks together. We truly appreciate your ongoing support and the strong partnership we share. It’s always a highlight to welcome families into the school and celebrate learning together. Taradale Snack Program
As part of the National Food Program, we were given funds to start a snack program at Taradale School. The program started on April 13 and we have now exhausted our supply. This was a great program that was well utilized by the students.
Bridge Club
Our last day of Bridge Club was Tuesday, May 26. This has been a great program for our students this year. We are fortunate to have Bridge Club at Taradale next year. It will start in mid-September. Please watch for registration information at that time.
Communication
When you have specific questions about your child, your first point of contact is always the classroom teacher. Please email the teacher to book a time to talk. Teachers are not available to talk during school hours as they are teaching. Teachers will respond to email concerns after the school day has concluded or the next school day.
Volunteers Needed Volunteer Clearance Volunteers are an important part of the extended learning we do at Taradale School. We will need parent volunteers for students to be able to attend these amazing learning experiences. Volunteers need a valid police clearance in order to volunteer. Police clearances need to be renewed every 5 years. Please see this link if you need more information about applying for your police clearance. Busing and Parking Taradale School now has one school bus. The addition of our school bus has resulted in new signage along Taravista Drive and Tarawood Road. Taravista Drive (in front of the school) is now a no stopping zone (just past the bus shelter). Please do not park here! This is our bus zone and must be open at all times for our school bus. If you are parked here, we will ask you to move your vehicle so that our bus can pull up to the school safely. Traffic Safety To improve traffic and pedestrian safety near schools, the City of Calgary are introducing a pilot project to install speed cushions and humps to slow traffic at multiple locations. Taravista Drive has been chosen as one of these locations. There will be 3 sets of speed cushions installed in front of the school. Crosswalk Safety As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to remind all families to help keep our students safe during arrival and dismissal times. Please be patient while waiting for students to cross the street with the assistance of our school staff. Staff play an important role in ensuring students cross safely, and we ask all drivers and pedestrians to follow their directions and treat them with courtesy and respect. We are doing our best to get students across the street safely. A few extra moments of patience can make a significant difference in maintaining a safe environment for everyone. Thank you for helping us model respectful behaviour and for working together to keep our school community safe. Playground Supervision The Playground is not part of CBE property and is not supervised in the morning or after school. Once students have arrived on CBE property; they are not allowed to go to the playground. Students must be with a parent who is supervising at the playground in the morning and after school. Tipi Day On June 17, we will have Elder Andy Pretty Youngman join us at Taradale to work with each of our classes over the day. As part of this day, we will engage in Tipi Teachings and will have a Tipi will be put up for the day outside. This is an exciting learning opportunity for our students. Kindergarten Registration 2026-27 Kindergarten Registration Guide *Taradale School is only able to accept registrations for students within our designated attendance boundaries. You can confirm that Taradale is your designated school through the Find a School Tool. Beginning Jan. 12, 2026, registration opens for kindergarten, as well as for new Grade 1–12 students, for the 2026–2027 school year. Children are eligible for kindergarten in September 2026 if they turn five years old on or before Dec. 31, 2026. To register your child for school, you must create a SchoolEngage account. Once an account is created, you will receive confirmation and can register your child. Multi-Culturalism Day June 26 is the last day of school. We will also recognize Canadian Multi-Cultural Day. Our school is inviting students and staff to wear their traditional clothing such as their ceremonial outfits and uniforms from their home country to school. This is to celebrate the diverse cultures in our school. We are so excited to see your child showcase their heritage, which is a part of their identity.
