Dear Taradale Families: We hope this email finds you well. It is hard to believe that we are down to the last 2 weeks of the 2023-24 school year. June has been a busy month so far with field trips, Fit-Set Ninja, and Activity Day. We look forward to our Grade 4 Send Off this week, and Pancake Breakfast next week to end the year! Please read all of the important updates below: Staffing Update: A sincere thank you to Mrs. Alison Marsters for stepping into the role of Acting Principal while Ms. Karen Bose was away. Now that Ms. Bose is back at Taradale, Mrs. Marsters has returned to the role of Assistant Principal. We also thank Mrs. Shelagh Reading for joining Taradale in the role of Acting Assistant Principal while Ms. Bose was away. School Configuration 2024-25 As previously shared, following discussions with our staff, we have made the decision to transition to straight grades instead of combined grades for the 2024-25 academic year. We recognize that this is a big change for the school community. Moving to straight grades will enable teachers to focus teaching and learning on the curriculum of one grade. Class lists and teacher placements will be ongoing until the end of the June. Information about your child’s teacher will be communicated in August as staffing is ongoing through the summer. Furthermore, kindly inform us if your child will not be attending Taradale next year. Report Cards Report Cards will be visible for parents to view and print on June 26. Please log into your MyCBE/PowerSchool account to view and print your child’s report card. Early Dismissal Please mark your calendars! June 27 is the last day of school and it is an early dismissal Thursday. Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 11:25 Grade 1 to 4 will be dismissed at 12:15 Communication When you have specific questions about your child, your first point of contact is always the classroom teacher. Please email the teacher to book a time to talk. Teachers are not available to talk during school hours as they are teaching. Volunteer Clearance If you would like to get a head start on volunteering, it is a great time to get started! We would love to have you volunteer at Taradale School! It is very busy with volunteer clearances in September, and we need to ensure Police Clearances are completed. If you are interested in volunteering, please let the office know and they will get you set up! Kindergarten Registration Kindergarten Registration is ongoing. Please follow this link and instructions to start the registration process. https://www.cbe.ab.ca/registration/registration/Pages/new-students.aspx Early Pick up If you are coming to the school to pick up your child early, you must come to the office. Students will not be released from their dismissal doors. Please ring the bell and let the office know you are here to pick up your child. Crosswalk Student and staff safety is one of the most important things we do at school. We recognize that the traffic is very busy at dismissal time. Please be respectful to school staff as we are doing our best to cross students safely. It is our job to cross the students safely. We are doing our best to do this as efficiently as possible. We are not directing traffic. Please be patient, and we will ensure we are being efficient with crossing the street. We all have a role to play in student and staff safety. We are excited that some new lights have been installed on the light posts, and there is a pedestrian yield sign that has been added to the road. Please be mindful of the following: - No parking in the crosswalk
- No parking in the bus zone
- Watch for the flashing light that indicates pedestrians will be crossing
- Do not park in the middle of the road
Thank you! Karen Bose and Alison Marsters |
