TARADALE SCHOOL TALK JUNE 23, 2024

Hello Taradale Families,

Whew! What an incredible last week at Taradale! On Monday, our EverActive Changemakers and Ms. Vandertoorn, Mr. Nguyen, and Mrs. Lock spent the day outside painting our pavement. This was made possible by a grant through Activate YYC and our year long residency with Ever Active Schools. We think they did an amazing job! On Tuesday and Wednesday, we were thrilled to have a visit by the Robotics Team from Nelson Mandela High School to work with our Grade 3 and 4 students! Our Taradale students were so excited learn and try out the robots! We look forward to continuing this partnership with Nelson Mandela! On Wednesday, we were also fortunate to have the Calgary Stampede Pancake Breakfast Committee provide our “Pancake Breakfast”. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this possible. On Thursday, we had our Grade 4 Send Off! It was amazing to celebrate all of our students’ accomplishments as we send them off to Middle School.

Last Day of School:

Thursday June 26 is the last day of school. It is an EARLY DISMISSAL day with dismissal at 12:15 PM.

Early Pick up
If you are coming to the school to pick up your child early, you must come to the office. As a new process, we are asking parents to sign your child out. We have a sign-out book as you come into the office. Students will not be released from their dismissal doors. Please ring the bell and let the office know you are here to pick up your child.

Dismissal

Students are dismissed at 3:00 pm. The students must stay in their meeting spot with their supervisor until they see a parent. It is very important that families are on time to pick up students.

Safety

Student and staff safety is one of the most important things we do at school. We recognize that the traffic is very busy at dismissal time. If you are driving to pick up your child, please ensure you are parking so that you are not obstructing the flow of traffic, and the crosswalk. We will not let the children to come to your car in the middle of the road. You must park and come and meet your child. The crosswalk supervisors are doing their best to ensure everyone is safe. Please be patient, and we will ensure we are being efficient with crossing the street. We all have a role to play in student and staff safety.

Thank you!

Karen Bose and Tara Vandertoorn
