PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE OCTOBER 2026

Dear Taradale Families:

We hope you enjoyed the Thanksgiving long weekend and had time to rest and connect with those who matter most to you.

As we welcome students back, we want to express our gratitude for our wonderful school community. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership, and for the kindness your children bring to our school each day.

UPDATES:

Specialized Transportation Bus

We now have a additional smaller school bus at Taradale School. This is a specialized transportation bus. We need to keep the area directly in front of the school open for this bus to park and unload. Please do not park in the area directly in front of the fire hydrant. There is a sign on the concrete that states bus unloading.  If you are parked there, we will be asking you to move your vehicle so that the bus has room to park. Thank you for making sure our students can safely unload the bus at entry time and dismissal.

School Council

We held our first Taradale School Council meeting on September 29. We are excited to share that we elected a School Council Chair and a Secretary. Our new School Council Chair is Amandeep Jassal and our Secretary is Sareena Basnet. We are still looking for a Treasurer to qualify as a School Council. If you are interested in this position, please let Ms. Bose know.  Our next School Council meeting is October 20 at 2:00 pm in the Gathering Space at the school.

Bridge Club

We are excited to be able to partner with Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth (CBFY) to host Bridge Club in our school. Bridge Club runs from 2:40 –4:40 every Tuesday and begins on October 20. There is still room in the program! Please use this link to register.

NNESST North of Mcknight Program Registration

Please note Taradale Office Staff cannot register your child, you must register through Bridge Club.

Fostering Safe & Respectful School Communities

A Message from Superintendent Pitman

This school year, CBE is taking action to make expectations that reinforce the importance of respectful interactions and positive learning environments clearer and more accessible. The first of these steps include:

CBE has updated Administrative Regulation 5002, Responsibilities of Parents.

Beginning in October, new signage will be introduced in CBE schools and worksites outlining expectations for respectful conduct.

At Taradale School we value opportunities to work in partnership with parents and deeply appreciate the shared responsibility around creating a safe & respectful learning community.

Away For A Day Technology Use

Please help us support a focused, safe and welcoming learning environment by reviewing CBE’s “Away for the Day” expectations with your child. These Kindergarten–Grade 9 expectations are outlined in Administrative Regulation 6008 and align with Alberta Education’s Ministerial Order #014/2024.

Students at Taradale School are not permitted to bring cell phones, smartwatches or other personal mobile devices to school. Devices must remain put away throughout the school day, including during breaks and lunch inside the school, unless a teacher or administrator gives permission.

Exceptions are available for health and medical needs, specialized learning needs and approved educational purposes. Please contact school administration if your child requires an accommodation.

When these expectations are not followed, staff will contact families and respond using CBE’s progressive discipline procedures.

Communication

When you have specific questions about your child, your first point of contact is always the classroom teacher. Please email the teacher to book a time to talk. Teachers are not available to talk during school hours as they are teaching.

Attendance

Under the Education Act, it is an Alberta Education expectation that all students under the age of 16 attend school every day. This includes our half-day Fridays. Even though students are only in school for the morning; there is still important learning that is taking place. Please make it a priority to ensure your child attends all days of school.

If your child is going to be away, please call out Attendance line 403-777-6270 option 1.

Brown Bagging

Taradale has a partnership with Brown Bagging 4 Kids who provide our school with lunches for students in need. If you are struggling to provide your child a lunch each day, please reach out and we will ensure your child receives a lunch. Please call the office to sign up for this program.

Noon Supervision

If your child will be staying for lunch, please register through MyCBE/PowerSchool. Registration for lunchroom is on-going throughout the year. There is a fee that you will be charged for your child to attend the lunchroom program.
